DIY Rose Quartz Healing Necklace

February 6, 2015

Rose quartz is a such a beautiful stone, pale pink and translucent. I have recently had customers for my personal business requesting more rose quartz jewelry due to the healing powers of this stone. When I looked into it, I discovered that rose quartz is a stone that promotes unconditional love and healing from emotional trauma (such as heartbreak). How perfect for Valentine’s Day!

Rose Quartz Healing Necklace

So I decided to make a necklace featuring rose quartz that required minimal tools and supplies to create. Here is what I came up with! See the supplies and steps to re-create this piece below! ♥ Tiffany

Tools and supplies for this project! Additionally if you want to antique the silver, add liver of sulphur and polishing pads to the supplies needed.

♥ Now follow these simple steps below! ♥

Cut a piece of wire about a foot long to wrap the donut.

Wrap the wire around the donut, through the center hole, four times.

Pinch the two wires flush together with your chain nose pliers.

Use your round nose pliers to make a large loop (3mm or so in diameter) with both pieces of wire, about 3mm up from the top of the donut.

Wrap the two pieces of wire around several times to create a handmade wire-wrapped bail on the donut.

Clip the excess wire with wire cutters in the back of the necklace.

You will end up with cut wire tails sticking out.

Use your chain nose pliers to pinch the wires flush so they don’t stick out anymore.

Completed donut pendant!

Now to start on the wire wrapped rose quartz links for the necklace! Cut several pieces of the silver filled wire into about 3 inch pieces.

Make a loop on the wire with your round nose pliers and wrap the wire down to make a wrapped loop. Wrap it about four times down.

Clip the wire and use your round nose pliers to pinch down any tail that remains.

Add the rose quartz bead to the wire.

Coil the other end to match, and clip the excess wire.

This is your first link to the wrapped beaded chain you will make to create the necklace.

Create a loop on another piece of wire, but do not complete it. You need to add your first link to this loop, to begin a chain.

Add the link to the piece of wire where the loop is.

Wrap the wire so that there is a wrapped loop connected to the other link.

Clip the wire like you did on the other link, tuck it with your chain nose pliers, and add another rose quartz bead.

Wrap the loop on the other side of the link you just added.

Continue adding links to the two you already created. I ended up with eleven links on each side in the end.

You want to end up with two sections of linked, wire-wrapped, rose quartz beads. I liked the length to have eleven on each side, but you can do as many as you like.

Use jump rings to add each segment to the loop on the rose quartz pendant.

Add each part of the toggle clasp to the other ends using jump rings.

Completed rose quartz necklace. You can leave it like this, or if you prefer you can antique the silver.

If you choose to antique it like I did, simply dip it in a solution of hot tap water and liver of sulfur gel. It will turn the metal black.

Use a polishing pad to remove the top layer of patina. It will stay dark in the crevices, but get shiny on the top. If you look at this picture the top one has been polished, but the bottom was has not.

Finished necklace, after being antiqued and polished!
