Tomorrow marks the first day of June and when I think of June jewelry, I think pearls. Pearls are a favorite birthstone choice for June and popular for bridal jewelry. I set out to make earrings that combine traditional and contemporary style. I found the perfect sterling-silver component in the “New Items” section of Rings & Things’ website; it’s a funky three-link connector that goes perfectly with Swarovski pear-shaped crystal pearls.
Follow these instructions to make your own:

You will need these supplies:
- 2 each Swarovski Crystal Pearls (I used item #05-821-11-200)
- 2 each #44-049-61 Sterling Silver Chain Section Connector
- 2 each Sterling Silver Eye Pins (I used item #37-812)
- 2 each Sterling Silver Heart Charms (I used item #44-046-28)
- 2 each Sterling Silver Earring Hook Findings (I used item #34-562)

You will need these tools:
- #69-275-03 Wubbers Chain-Nose Jewelry Making Pliers
- #69-275-31 Wubbers Medium, Flat-Nose Jewelry Making Pliers
- #69-275-02 Wubbers Round-Nose Jewelry Making Pliers
- #69-056 EURO TOOL Side Flush Cutter

Jewelry Tip: Do you have trouble forming perfectly matched wire loops? Try using an extra-fine-tip permanent marker to add calibration lines to round-nose pliers.

Twist open the eye-pin loop and add a tiny charm. Twist the loop closed. Repeat with second eye pin.

String a crystal pearl on the eye-pin wire. Repeat with second eye pin.

Bend a short neck just above the strung pearl and then form a small loop.

Twist the eye pin loop slightly open and connect it to the sterling-silver connector chain. I chose to connect to the end link with the beaded pattern.

Wrap the eye pin tail to securely finish the loop.

Use side flush cutters to clip off the excess wire. For a flush cut face the flat side of the cutter’s jaw toward the wrapped loop. Then use chain-nose pliers to tuck the cut tail end in to the wrapped coil.

Twist open the earring loop and connect to the sterling-silver connector chain. I chose to connect to the end link with the twisted pattern.

Repeat the loop-making steps to make the second earring.
