Here’s a bit of a trend lately: Jewelry inspired by fine art. Now that’s a natural fit!
- There’s a great book on this theme, by Judith Durant & Jean Campbell. It’s “Beadwork Inspired by Art: Impressionist Jewelry and Accessories.” (Click to see a review at the Web’s most entertainingly-titled blog, “Snap Out of It, Jean! There’s Beading to be Done!”) The brilliant pieces of jewelry illustrated next to the paintings that inspired them make for an awesome coffee-table book as well as a crafting resource.
- The same pair of authors has a book about Art Nouveau-inspired jewelry (reviewed at Dulcey Heller’s blog).
- A choker inspired by Mondrian just appeared on Dawno’s blog.
- How about a sunflower bead d’après Van Gogh?

I just fell over at the Starry Night bead – must have – that is my favorite painting……..
ooh – I want Starry Night beads! Years ago my kids and I went to one of those ‘paint your own ceramics’ stores and my son made me a mug with his version of Starry Night – it’s still one of my treasures.
Thanks for the links!
Impressionist jewelry – great fit. Great idea.
Just wanted to follow up, I did buy one of the starry night beads, couldn’t resist! I also noticed from my Google analytics that most of the recent traffic to my blog has come from this post! Thanks for helping me make new friends!
Hey there Dave. There is an award waiting for you at my blog. LOL! It is something people pass on to each other. We are supposed to give this award to people who encourage us by leaving comments on our blogs. And since I was supposed to pass this on to 5 people, I immediately thought of you, because your comments at my blog are always so encouraging! You don’t need to post all this on your blog, even though the rules of the award say so. I am posting this message here just to let you know that I really appreciate your support. That’s all. 🙂

Looks like “Starry Night” is quite a hit. I wonder which other famous Impressionist works translate into must-have beads and jewelry. Le dejeuner sur l’herbe? Degas’ ballerinas? Andy Warhol’s soup cans? Er…
Oh, hey, Dave, (says I a bit sheepishly). Would you believe I just now found your mention of my Starry Night beads here. I want to thank you for the recognition! Am just getting the hang of webtools that show these things. Again, many thanks and
That should be:
