Dripping in Gold Earrings Project

August 10, 2015

I love the idea of long, dramatic earrings for a night out on the town – the kind of earrings that really make people stop and look! I decided to make a pair of earrings like this that would shimmer and sparkle with gold! These earrings are a little time consuming to create, but are worth it! Plus the supplies are very inexpensive. Find out how to recreate this look below.

Everything you need to make your own “Dripping in Gold” Earrings!

Supplies and Tools Needed:

Now Follow the Easy Instructions Below:

Cut several pieces of the wire that are about 1/2 inch long. You will need over 100 for both earrings.

Make a pile of the small wire segments.

Using your round nose pliers, make a small round loop at the end of each piece of wire. Add one faceted gold bead above each loop.

Once you’ve added the gold beads, begin to link the segments together. You will be making a total of 14 beaded chain segments: two with 10 links, four with 9 links, four with 8 links, and four with 6 links.

Make all the segments. When you’re done, separate out the following for EACH earring: one 10-bead segment, two 9-bead segments, two 8-bead segments, and two 6-bead segments.

Once you have the segments done you can start assembling the earrings. First, string two gold metal beads on a manipulating hoop.

Then, add one 6-bead segment.

Add another gold bead, followed by one 8-bead segment.

Continue this pattern, adding the 9-bead segment followed by the 10-bead segment. Then work back down to the 6-bead segment.

Add two more gold beads at the end.

Make a bend on the side of the hoop that doesn’t have a loop already. Make it 90 degrees and about 1/4 inch long.

Place the bent piece through the loop on the other side.

Make a loop with the straight piece using your round nose pliers.

Open the loop on the earring wire. Then straighten the loop, so you can remove the coil.

Remove the coil and replace it with a gold bead.

Add the earring wires with the gold beads to the top of the hoops. Finished earrings!

Well, I hope you liked this project! I just love how they turned out! Happy beading! ~Tiffany
